Unfortunately, while you're trying to find out how many car seats can squeeze into the back, many automotive review sites are busy with screeching tires and roaring engines.

Family Car Review, we strive to be different. We focus our reviews on what's most important to family-oriented buyers. How safe is a car? How much cargo space is there, and is it useful? How many LATCH points are there? Can I fit a stroller and a week's worth of groceries in the trunk? Can my kids climb into the third row of that crossover easily? Are car seats hard to get in and out?

To make it easy to compare vehicles to each other, we've developed the Family Friendliness Index. It's our way of distilling important aattributes like safety, price, and fuel economy into a simple number that can be compared to other vehicles. Now, instead of wading through reams of data, you can tell if a vehicle is Family Friendly with a quick glance.

We have three ways of reviewing cars. Our At-A-Glance covers the basics: What a car offers a buyer, its pros and cons, and a list of vital specifications such as price, fuel economy, cargo space and safety features. After we get behind the wheel, we can write an In Depth story, either a First Drive or a full Review. Once we've spent some time with a vehicle, we can determine how we think it accommodates the needs of a modern family and whether it merits a Recommendation.
