How It Got Its Score: The 2010 Cadillac SRX 2.8 offers a powerful turbocharged V-6 engine and lots of standard features, but its high price hurts its score.
Normally a more expensive, high-performance model gets a bigger engine. However, the $50,000 Cadillac SRX 2.8 actually gets a slightly smaller engine than its siblings, but gains turbocharging for more power. All-wheel drive is standard on this model, as is a lot of equipment that's optional on the less expensive SRX models as well. Despite the price bump, the SRX 2.8 still boasts a pretty good Family Friendliness score thanks to its overall size, plentiful safety equipment and generous cargo room. It also offers some features, such as a rear-seat entertainment system, that simply aren't available in some competitive vehicles. Keep in mind though that fuel economy takes a hit, so if you don't need or want the extra power, you can get many of the same features in less expensive SRX models.
