The 2010 Chevy HHR LS looks like a mini SUV, but it's actually a small wagon based on the same underpinnings as the Chevy Cobalt, the same idea behind the Corolla-based Toyota Matrix. With 25.2 cu.-ft. of cargo space behind the rear seats and pretty good fuel economy from the 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine, it's long on practicality. Bump up to the LT model and you can order up options like Bluetooth cell phone integration, an upgraded audio system with a USB port, and even a rear-seat entertainment system that includes headrest-mounted screens. About the only downside is the styling, which may put off some buyers who aren't into the retro look.
