2010 Chevrolet Malibu 2LT V-6

Family Friendliness: 7.5

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications also apply to LTZ V-6 models.

What it Is: A class-leading midsize four-door sedan.
Who it's For: Families who need no more than two LATCH positions and are OK with a sedan's smaller cargo space.
What's Hot: Crisp styling inside and out, and a comfortable and roomy interior.
What's Not: Some features available in competitors can't be had here.
How It Got Its Score: The V-6 Malibu's safety is just as good as four-cylinder models, but its lower fuel economy and higher price bring it down a few notches.

The 2010 Chevrolet Malibu is available in base LS, mid-level LT and top-of-the-line LTZ models, but only 2LT and LTZ models have an optional V-6 engine. While we think that the standard four-cylinder offers enough power for the day-to-day grind, the V-6 is a powerful and quiet engine, albeit a much less fuel efficient one. For those on a budget, it's worth staying with the four-cylinder, but if you need extra passing power, then the V-6 is easily one of the best engines in its class. The trunk is big for this class, and the outboard LATCH positions are easy to use.

While the Malibu is a pleasure to drive and less expensive than many of its primary competitors, it also isn't available with some key features, such as a navigation system. In addition, this model is now entering its third year, and some competitors - such as the Honda Accord - have been totally redesigned since the current Malibu made the scene, making competition that much more fierce.
