2010 Dodge Charger SE

Family Friendliness: 6.6

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications apply to this model only.

What it Is: A full-size five-passenger sedan.
Who it's For: Families who need no more than two LATCH points, but want a traditional sedan.
What's Hot: The same styling as the more powerful models, but with better fuel economy.
What's Not: Poor crash test scores, and short on features.
How It Got Its Score: The Charger SE's lower price bumps it higher than other Charger models, but its poor IIHS crash test scores penalize it significantly.

If you like the Charger's aggressive looks but don't need or want the big V-8 engine, then the entry-level SE may be a good choice. Sporting a smaller V-6 engine, the SE has better fuel economy than the R/T. However, it's still only OK at best, and other full-size sedans do much better. The SE is also short on features; you have to stepĀ  up to the SXT or R/T to get some of the better bells and whistles available in the Charger. However, for a base price of $25,000, it offers up considerable room in the rear seat and a generous trunk. If that's what you need, and the Poor and Marginal IIHS crash test results for side and rear impacts don't bother you, then it may be worth a look.
