2010 Dodge Grand Caravan SE

Family Friendliness: 9.1

Recommended: Yes

Specifications apply to this model only.

What it Is: A front-wheel drive full-size minivan.
Who it's For: Families who need maximum hauling and three LATCH points.
What's Hot: Sliding doors, lots of interior space and a low price.
What's Not: Many features only available on more expensive SXT model.
How It Got Its Score: While the Grand Caravan falls short in a couple of areas, its low base price gives it an excellent Family Friendliness rating.

Dodge invented the modern minivan in 1984, and it still is one of the leaders when it comes to sales. However, the current generation of Grand Caravan falls short compared to some of its competition, especially the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna. With good crash test scores and standard safety equipment, combined with a base price of less than $25,000, the Grand Caravan SE gets a good Family Friendliness rating. However, its only available with the smallest of Dodge's three available minivan engines, and fuel economy isn't as good as you'd hope for a base engine. Still, the traditional minivan virtues of lots of room for kids and their stuff are in place, and if you're on a tight budget, that low MSRP can be awfully tempting.
