2010 Dodge Charger SXT All-Wheel Drive

Family Friendliness: 6.4

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications apply to this model only.

What it Is: A full-size five-passenger sedan.
Who it's For: Families who need no more than two LATCH points, but want a traditional sedan.
What's Hot: Aggressive styling and all-wheel drive.
What's Not: So-so fuel economy and poor crash test scores.
How It Got Its Score: The Charger SXT all-wheel drive's fuel economy suffers compared to the rear-drive model, and its poor IIHS crash test scores penalize it significantly.

The SXT is the middle of the range in the Dodge Charger lineup, and is available with more options than the base SE, but still not quite as much as the V-8 R/T. The Charger is a traditional rear-wheel drive sedan, but the SXT is available with an all-wheel drive system that's primarily suited for those living in poor-weather areas. While the Charger offers up a generous rear seat and trunk, it also did poorly in IIHS crash tests, scoring Poor and Marginal in side and rear impact crash tests, respectively. At more than $30,000 including destination, the Charger SXT is also a little on the more expensive side compared to many other sedans, although few of them are as big as the Charger, although some are available with all-wheel drive. We wish fuel economy was better, but if you like the idea of an all-wheel drive sedan and are happy with the NHTSA's more positive crash test data, then the Charger is worth a look.
