2010 Ford Fusion S

Family Friendliness: 8.1

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications also apply to SE and SEL four-cylinder models.

What it Is: A midsize sedan with a four-cylinder engine.
Who it's For: Families who need no more than two LATCH points.
What's Hot: Very fuel efficient four-cylinder engine and a comfortable interior.
What's Not: The Fusion's big chrome grille isn't to everyone's liking.
How It Got Its Score: The Fusion S scores well among midsize sedans on our Family Friendliness scale thanks to its size, fuel efficiency and low base price.

The Ford Fusion was introduced in 2005 and redesigned for the 2010 model year with a new interior and improved nose and tail. It also got a more fuel-efficient four-cylinder drivetrain. Put it all together and add the Fusion S's low base price and you have a very good bargain for those seeking a stylish midsize sedan. Even the more expensive SE and SEL aren't very expensive, despite added equipment such as automatic climate control and a leather interior on SEL models. Downsides are few. Maybe the big chrome grille is too expressive for your tastes, or it might be that you just need a larger back seat or an even bigger trunk (even though the Fusion's 16.5 cu. ft. of cargo space is one of the biggest in the class).
