How It Got Its Score: Even with all-wheel drive, the Lexus RX 350 scores well thanks to plenty of standard and optional safety equipment, great crash test scores, a huge cargo capacity, and a modest price increase over front-wheel drive models.

Lexus invented the luxury crossover utility vehicle in the 1990s, and the RX 350 continues to be one of the most popular vehicles in its class. With the third generation, introduced last year, Lexus was smart not to alter the formula. The styling is familiar, but modernized, and the RX is surprisingly affordable, considering its premium luxury pedigree. One of the coolest things about the RX is the joystick-controlled navigation system, which simplifies entering destinations or other navigation functions. Safety equipment is plentiful, and there are options like active cruise control and collision avoidance available as well. However, if you start selecting options like these expect the price to rise quickly, as it's easy to pay more than $50,000 for an RX 350. Regardless, the RX is popular for a reason, and if price isn't much of a problem, it's definitely worth a look.
