2010 Lincoln MKZ All-Wheel Drive
What it Is: A midsize luxury sedan with a V-6 engine and all-wheel drive.
Who it's For: Families who need no more than two LATCH points, all-wheel drive and demand lots of luxury features.
What's Hot: Lots of standard features, a big trunk and a luxurious interior.
What's Not: The V-6 and all-wheel drive reduce fuel economy.
Family Friendly Options: Back up camera, Bluetooth, SYNC, navigation
How It Got Its Score: The Lincoln MKZ offers up the same attributes as the Ford Fusion, but its luxury brand, high-end options, all-wheel drive and more luxurious surroundings drive up the price, and lower the score.
The 2010 Lincoln MKZ underwent a refresh this year, giving it a new, much more expressive exterior -- especially the nose -- and a more luxurious interior as well. As the luxury brand version of the same basic vehicle as the Ford Fusion, the Lincoln MKZ has more standard features, such as Bridge of Weir leather seats, as well as premium safety systems such as blind spot detection coupled with cross-traffic monitoring. Ford's excellent SYNC system is also available, with its ability to voice-command navigation, cell phone and music-devices. On a more practical front, the 2010 Lincoln MKZ also offers the same roomy trunk and crash test scores as the Fusion. On the downside, fuel economy suffers a little with the all-wheel drive system, something that even luxury buyers are becoming more concerned about. Options add up quickly, too, and it's easy to push the price of the MKZ well into the $40,000 range. There's also a strong resemblance to the much less expensive Ford Fusion, even after the MKZ's refreshed design.
