2010 Mazda CX-9 Sport Front-Wheel Drive

Family Friendliness: 7.7

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications also apply to Touring and Grand Touring front-wheel drive models.

What it Is: A seven-passenger, three-row crossover.
Who it's For: Families who need a third row and no more than three LATCH points.
What's Hot: Sporty styling and a surprisingly luxurious interior.
What's Not: So-so fuel economy, less cargo space than competitors.
How It Got Its Score: The Mazda CX-9 offers a powerful V-6 engine, but fuel economy is below many competitors. The base price is also higher than many competitors.

With three rows and seven-passenger capacity, the CX-9 is Mazda's largest vehicle. Like the smaller CX-7, the CX-9 received a styling update for the 2009 model year. Mazda emphasizes sporty driving in all its models, and even the big CX-9 is no exception, making the CX-9 an alternative for enthusiast drivers. While the CX-9 backs up its aggressive looks with a powerful V-6, fuel economy is below many competitors with similar drivetrains. In addition, the CX-9 costs a little more than some competitors, which makes the less-expensive front-wheel drive model that much more appealing.
