Mercury
2010 Mercury Milan V-6 Premier All-Wheel Drive
What it Is: A midsize, V-6, all-wheel drive, five-passenger sedan.
Who it's For: Families who need foul-weather security and no more than two LATCH points.
What's Hot: Subtle styling, strong V-6 engine and a comfortable interior.
What's Not: Slightly more expensive than similar Ford Fusion.
Family Friendly Options: Bluetooth, backup camera, SYNC, navigation.
How It Got Its Score: The 2010 Mercury Milan V-6 all-wheel drive is a premium version of the Ford Fusion, with a nicer interior and more standard features. Its all wheel drive system hurts fuel economy, and its price is a little steep.
The all-wheel drive 2010 Mercury Milan adds foul-weather security to an already compelling package. If you live in a dry climate, then all-wheel drive isn't really necessary. But in areas more prone to bad weather, it's worth the price and fuel economy penalties. This model of the Milan costs more than the basically similar Ford Fusion V-6 with all-wheel drive, but it comes with more standard equipment, too. Mechanically the cars are identical, but we think that the Mercury's more subtle looks could appeal to those who are turned off by the Fusion's aggressive styling. It's also available with all the things that make the Fusion so compelling, such as a 16.5 cu.-ft. trunk and SYNC, a voice-activated navigation and music system.
