2010 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS Front-Wheel Drive

Family Friendliness: 8.0

Recommended: Yes

Specifications apply to this model only.

What it Is: A small, seven-passenger crossover utility vehicle.
What's Hot: Aggressive looks, stowable third row, tailgate.
What's Not: Third row seat ruins cargo space.
Family Friendly Options: Bluetooth music streaming, premium audio, navigation system, back up camera
How It Got Its Score: The V-6 powered 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS has good fuel economy for a V-6 powered crossover, and the third seating row helps boost its score.

Mitsubishi really wants to put the "sport" in its compact sport utility, with an aggressive new nose for the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS. Under the hood is a 230-hp V-6 engine connected to a six-speed automatic with paddle-shifters on the steering wheel that let y ou manually select gears without needing to use a clutch. It's all fun, but the Outlander has a practical side, too. The third row is handy, although it's really only meant for occasional use, and cargo space behind the third row seatback is very limited. If you stow the third row in the floor, you have more than 36 cu.-ft. of cargo space. Accessing it is easier thanks to the flip-down tailgate at the rear.

We recently drove the all-wheel drive version of this Outlander and will post a full review soon. In the meantime, although it has its faults, we do Recommend this vehicle...check back soon to see why.
