Mitsubishi
2010 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS All-Wheel Drive
What it Is: A small, seven-passenger all-wheel drive crossover utility vehicle.
What's Hot: Aggressive looks, stowable third row, tailgate.
What's Not: Third row seat ruins cargo space.
Family Friendly Options: Bluetooth music streaming, premium audio, navigation system, back up camera
How It Got Its Score: The V-6 powered 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS has decent fuel economy for an all-wheel drive V-6 powered crossover, and the third row helps boost its score.
With its new-for 2010 styling, the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS emphasizes sporty driving. The V-6 engine connects to an all-wheel drive system through a six-speed automatic that features paddle-shifters on the steering wheel, letting you chose your own gears without using a clutch. The Outlander GT even has an all-wheel drive system that's based on the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution performance compact. It's all fun, but the Outlander's practical side is worth your attention, too. Mitsubishi includes a third seating row as standard equipment on the Outlander XLS and GT, and although it's handy, it's really only meant for occasional use, and cargo behind the third-row seatback is very limited. However, if you stow the third row, you you have more than 36 cu.-ft. of cargo space. Accessing it is easier thanks to the flip-down tailgate at the rear.
We recently drove this version of the Outlander and will post a full review soon. In the meantime, although it has its faults, we do Recommend this vehicle...check back soon to see why.
