2010 Mitsubishi Lancer DE

Family Friendliness: 7.4

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications also apply to ES models.

What it Is: A compact, five-passenger four-door sedan.
What's Hot: Standout styling.
What's Not: Standard equipment level so-so, air conditioning an option on DE models.
Family Friendly Options: Bluetooth cell phone integration, premium audio.
How It Got Its Score: The 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer DE covers the basics with regards to safety and cargo space, but without any standout features, it trails some competitors, even at the base level.

The 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer DE and ES offer basic, budget transportation from Mitsubishi. if you're really on a budget, the DE covers the basics as far as safety is concerned, but even things like air conditioning are optional, which is rare these days. In light of that, it's interesting that all models even get power windows. Regardless, the Mitsubishi Lancer isn't without its charms. Even the base DE model comes with a powerful (for the class) 152-horsepower four-cylinder that still manages to get pretty good fuel economy. It's also not much of a stretch to the ES model, which offers more plentiful standard equipment, and allows you to opt for things like Bluetooth and a better audio system. If nearly $16,500 is too much for you, you can save $900 if you opt for the five-speed manual transmission, but note that fuel economy suffers a little bit.
