If you're the kind of family that enjoys blazing your own off-road trails, then a full-size SUV like the 2010 Nissan Armada may be the right call for you. with a powerful V-8 engine and up to 9,100 pounds of towing capacity, it can handle pretty much any challenge. Unless, however, that challenge is a fuel-economy contest; with only 14 mpg on the EPA's combined cycle, it's one of the poorest performing full-size SUVs on the market. Still, if you need to tow a big load or want to go camping well off the beaten path, the Armada should be on your list. You can also equip it with a rear seat DVD player, navigation, leather seats and all the other luxury items families today expect. Note that four-wheel drive commands a $5,600 premium on the Armada SE thanks to other added equipment, so think twice about how much you'll use the system before ordering it. The system is $2,800 on Titanium and Platinum models.
