2010 Nissan Sentra 2.0

Family Friendliness: 8.0

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications also apply to 2.0 S, 2.0 SR and 2.0 SL models.

What it Is: A very roomy, inexpensive five-passenger sedan.
What's Hot: Lots of interior space and huge trunk for a small car.
What's Not: A little more expensive than competition.
Family Friendly Options: Navigation, Bluetooth, back up camera.
How It Got Its Score: Despite its somewhat higher price, the 2010 Nissan Sentra scores well on our Family Friendliness Index because of room: It's technically a midsize car, and it has a relatively large trunk.

Size is an important consideration for a family car, and the 2010 Nissan Sentra has it in spades compared to its mostly compact competition. The Sentra's generous headroom and large trunk mean that it's in the EPA's midsize class, although definitely at the smaller end of it. It's not just a numbers game either. For example, the Sentra offers a notably bigger trunk than rivals like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. It does this while delivering fuel economy that's on par with those cars. On the down side, traction and stability control aren't standard (both are available on all but the base model), and brake assist isn't available at all. It also costs a little more than its rivals, depending on equipment levels. Regardless, it's worth a look if you're on a tight budget and need the biggest car you can afford.
