2010 Nissan Altima Hybrid

Family Friendliness: 7.7

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications apply to this model only.

What it Is: A five-passenger four-door hybrid sedan.
Who it's For: Families who need no more than two LATCH points and emphasize fuel economy over cargo space.
What's Hot: Excellent fuel economy.
What's Not: Small trunk, not available in all markets (see below).
How It Got Its Score: All three mid-size sedan hybrids score the same, thanks to prices near the $27,000 mark and similarly small trunks.

The Nissan Altima Hybrid is designed to go head-to-head with the Toyota Camry hybrid, and offers very similar specifications, from base price to fuel economy. It also suffers from the same shortcomings as other midsize-sedan based hybrids: a relatively high price and small cargo area. The Altima hybrid is less expensive than the Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry hybrids, but also gets slightly poorer fuel economy. In addition, it's only available in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont, so if you're in one of the other 41 states, you're out of luck.
