2010 Nissan Rogue S All-Wheel Drive

Family Friendliness: 8.0

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications also apply to SL all-wheel drive models.

What it Is: A two-row, five-passenger small crossover.
Who it's For: Families on a budget who need no more than two LATCH points.
What's Hot:
Very low price.
What's Not: Less cargo and passenger space than some competitors.
How It Got Its Score: The Rogue is competitive with most vehicles in its class, and undercuts many on price, but received only four stars in federal front-impact crash testing.

The Nissan Rogue competes in the inexpensive and small segment of the crossover market. It succeeds on both counts, undercutting its competitors from Honda (CR-V) and Ford (Escape) by more than $1,000 each. However, you also get less vehicle, as the Rogue is notably smaller inside than both the Honda and the Ford. In addition, like the Honda CR-V the Rogue doesn't offer a V-6 engine like many of its competitors. Regardless, the Rogue offers no-frills crossover transportation, and if you're on a tight budget, that low price can mean a lot. All-wheel drive undercuts fuel economy, and we'd skip it unless you frequently drive on slippery roads.
