Subaru

2010 Subaru Forester 2.5XT Premium

Family Friendliness: 7.9

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications also apply to Limited models.

What it Is: A five-passenger compact crossover.
What's Hot: Standard all-wheel drive.
What's Not: If you don't want all-wheel drive, you're out of luck.
Family Friendly Options: Navigation, auxiliary audio inputs.
How It Got Its Score: The 2010 Subaru Forester 2.5XT's good crash test scores and safety equipment are augmented by standard all-wheel drive. Fuel economy is competitive with other manufacturer's V-6 models.

All Subarus have standard all-wheel drive, including the 2010 Subaru Forester 2.5XT. This turbocharged version of the Subaru Forester offers more power, but with a fuel economy penalty to go with it. However, there's still a lot to like here with the turbocharged Forester. Its standard all-wheel drive makes it -- and other Subarus -- a favorite in parts of the country prone to low-traction conditions such as frequent snow or rain. There's plenty of cargo space, and room for five. Note that unlike the non-turbo Forester, no fuel-saving manual transmission option is available for the Forester 2.5XT Premium and Forester 2.5XT Limited models.
