2010 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Premium

Family Friendliness: 7.7

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications also apply to Premium and Limited models.

What it Is: An all-wheel drive four-door six-cylinder midsize sedan.
What's Hot: Standard full-time all-wheel drive, great crash test scores.
What's Not: Fuel economy suffers significantly compared to four-cylinder.
Family Friendly Options: Navigation, USB, Bluetooth.
How It Got Its Score: The 2010 Subaru Legacy 3.6R is the company's response to V-6 competition. However, fuel economy drops significantly from the four-cylinder model, as does its Family Friendliness score.

The 2010 Subaru Legacy 3.6R is the company's premium sedan offering, with a six-cylinder engine to compete with V-6 powered cars from Honda, Toyota, Chevrolet and others. It holds its head up well, but fuel economy suffers more than some of its competition, dropping to 20 mpg on the EPA's combined cycle; both the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry do notably better with their six-cylinder models. Still, the Legacy 3.6R has some advantages, primarily its excellent crash test scores, where it earned five stars from the NHTSA in all categories. It also offers standard all-wheel drive, which provides added security in foul weather, but likely hurts its fuel economy a bit. The Legacy also offers a roomy trunk, nearly 15 cu.-ft., and the opening is low and wide for larger loads. If you don't mind the fuel economy hit, it's definitely a sedan to consider.
