2010 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Four-Cylinder

Family Friendliness: 8.0

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications apply to this model only.

What it Is: A mid-size sport utility vehicle.
What's Hot: Four-cylinder engine more fuel efficient.
What's Not:
Can't get third row option with four-cylinder engine.
Family Friendly Options: Sliding rear cargo deck.
How It Got Its Score: The 2010 Toyota 4Runner with the four-cylinder boasts enormous cargo area behind the second row, and gets pretty good fuel economy for such a big vehicle.

The 2010 Toyota 4Runner is aimed at people who still like the feel of driving a real truck instead of a car-based crossover. Although V-6 models are available in four-wheel drive, the four-cylinder -- new for 2010 -- is only in rear-wheel drive, is available only in the base model, and comes with a limited selection of options, although things like air conditioning and power windows are standard. Absent from the options sheet is the 4Runner's third row of seats. However, a clever sliding cargo tray is available to make loading and unloading the 4Runner easier, and the standard cargo area of the two-row 4Runner is an eye-popping 47.2 cu.-ft. At just over $28,000 it's not too expensive, either.
