How It Got Its Score: The Volkswagen Routan is built in the same factory as the Chrysler Town and Country Limited, and scores about the same thanks to similar equipment levels.
The 2010 Volkswagen Routan is built in the same factory as the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country, sharing engines, basic architecture and most of its trim with the Chrysler vans. However, it does offer unique touches, especially in the styling, which we think makes it the best looking of the three vans by a wide margin. The suspension settings are also different. However, the Volkswagen Routan isn't available with some of the options you can get on the Dodge vans, such as the Swivel-and-Go second row seats, or even the Stow-and-Go seats that stow in the floor. The Routan is also on the pricey side. However, the SEL Premium model makes picking all the options easy, since pretty much everything is standard on that model.
