How It Got Its Score: The 2010 Jetta Sportwagen offers generous cargo space and decent fuel economy. It's also one of a handful of compact wagons even available in the U.S.
It's unfortunate that more compact wagons like the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen aren't sold in the U.S. We say that because if there was more competition, maybe Volkswagen would cut the price on its otherwise desirable compact hauler. The Jetta Sportwagen offers more cargo space than the standard Jetta sedan, of course, but it also offers more than the Golf hatchback and many compact crossovers as well. Volkswagen's also serious about the "Sport" in "Sportwagen," as even the automatic transmission features sporty paddle shifters and a tuned suspension. While the standard gasoline engin eis good, consider the diesel Sportwagen TDI for hybrid-like fuel economy.
