2010 Volvo XC60 3.2 Front-Wheel Drive

Family Friendliness: 8.1

Recommended: Yes

Specifications apply to this model only.

What it Is: A midsize two-row five passenger crossover.
Who it's For: Families who want a premium brand for their two LATCH points.
What's Hot: Numerous safety equipment, including a self-braking system.
What's Not: Options add up quickly on an already-expensive vehicle.
How It Got Its Score: Even though the XC60 is a premium and somewhat pricey nameplate, it scores well thanks to its spacious cargo area and plentiful safety equipment.

Volvo has built is reputation on safety, and it intends to keep that edge thanks to technologies such as the standard City Safety system, which will actually bring the vehicle to a complete stop if it detects an imminent rear-end collision. Volvo is also a premium brand, and while the price brings down its score somewhat, it gets you a solidly built car with many premium features. Still, a lot of what's offered on this Volvo -- with the exception of the exclusive City Safety system -- can be found on many cars with a lower base price these days. However, this front-wheel drive model gets notably better fuel economy and costs a couple thousand dollars less than the more expensive all-wheel drive model.
