How It Got Its Score: The advantages of the standard Volvo XC60's plentiful safety equipment and spacious cargo area are mitigated by the T6's higher price.

The Volvo XC60 T6 may be an alphanumeric mouthful, but it's also a very nicely equipped premium crossover. With a reputation for safety, Volvo slathers it on with technologies like the standard City Safety system, which will actually bring the vehicle to a complete stop if it detects an imminent rear-end collision. The T6 is the top-of-the-line, and has all-wheel drive standard as well as a more powerful engine, but fuel economy numbers are about the same as the less expensive all-wheel drive XC60 3.2. We like the XC60's mix of features, but be careful with the options, as they can add up very quickly and push this Volvo's price well into the $40,000 range. Regardless, if you like the styling -- and with lines like these, who wouldn't -- and don't mind a bigger monthly payment, the XC60 is a strong competitor against other luxury crossovers.
