How It Got Its Score: The 2010 BMW X3 xDrive30i scores pretty well for an expensive luxury crossover thanks to its large -- even for the class -- cargo area.

The BMW X3 xDrive30i is a member of the class of small luxury crossovers, such as the Acura RDX. Its biggest advantage over its competition is cargo volume. At an even 30.0 cu.-ft. it offers more than most of its competition. However, if you need to haul large loads, it expands to a whopping 71.0 cu.-ft. of space, far more than most other small crossovers. As a luxury cargo hauler, it's a good bet. Unfortunately, it also suffers from the same major drawback as some other BMW models: Price. The X3's base price is just under the $40,000 mark, and that doesn't include things like Bluetooth or other premium features that are often standard on the X3's competition. In addition, it's missing a few things from its option sheet, such as a rear-seat entertainment system, that are available on competitive models.
