2010 Ford Edge SE Front-Wheel Drive

Family Friendliness: 7.9

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications also apply to SEL, Limited and Sport front-wheel drive models.

What it Is: The Ford Edge is a two-row five-passenger crossover utility vehicle.
Who it's For: Families who need big cargo space but no more than two LATCH points.
What's Hot: Attractive styling, good fuel economy, lots of cargo space.
What's Not: Only five passengers when some similarly price vehicles offer seven.
How It Got Its Score: While the Edge offers good cargo capacity, its base price is on the high side compared to many other five-passenger utility vehicles.

The Ford Edge has been a runaway success for Ford, and for good reason. It looks good inside and out, offers lots of interior space for five passengers, and has generous cargo space behind the second row. However, it also straddles a segment, being more expensive than many other two-row crossovers (including Ford's own Escape), but not having the passenger-hauling capability of seven passenger crossover. Still, we like the Edge's cargo capacity, and the extra width of the Edge means that getting three across in the rear seat still means plenty of comfort. The Edge can get pricey as you start moving up the model ladder, but despite that we think it's a good value for those who need more cargo capacity than a sedan can handle.
