What it Is: A traditional front-wheel drive minivan.
Who it's For: Families who appreciate the value of sliding doors.
What's Hot: Available power folding third-row seats, dual DVD screens and satellite TV.
What's Not: Old-looking styling inside and out.
How It Got Its Score: While minivans have advantages in our scoring, the Town & Country Limited's high price knocks it down a few pegs.
The 2010 Chrysler Town & Country comes in three models; base LX, midlevel Touring and top-of-the-line Limited. Since each has its own combination of engine and transmission, they're listed separately here. The Limited has the best combination of power and fuel economy, but in the most expensive model, with a starting price of more than $37,000 including destination charges. This hurts its Family Friendliness score, overshadowing other things like the added utility of sliding doors an inherently better cargo capacity than crossovers.
Still, the Town & Country is a compelling vehicle for those who need a minivan but want more luxurious surroundings. The navigation system offers a hard drive with 20 gigabytes of user-available space, and there are power controls for the rear hatch as well as the third row of seats. It also offers some clever touches like reverse folding third row seats - ideal for tailgate parties. But be warned: The "Swivel 'n' Go" second row seats that can be turned to face rearward weigh about 90 pounds each, which makes maximizing cargo space a back-straining chore.
