How It Got Its Score: The 2011 Nissan Quest's Family Friendliness score is preliminary, since crash tests aren't yet available. However, assuming it does as well as its predecessor, it should be a high-scoring pick for families.
After a two-year absence, Nissan re-enters the minivan market with the all-new 2011 Nissan Quest. All models get a powerful 3.5-liter V-6 engine, seven passenger capacity, and of course sliding doors. However, the Quest offers up some unique touches as well. Foremost among them is the forward-folding second and third-row seats, which makes it incredibly simple to maximize cargo space. It also has a rear cargo well that's always available, since the third row folds forward, rather than down into the storage space as in other vans. The drawback is diminished cargo space, thanks to the higher load floor. However, Nissan compensates by giving the 2011 Quest a comfortable and luxurious interior, a quiet and secure highway ride, and plenty of family friendly features. We particularly like the one-touch sliding doors, which allow you to open the doors without fumbling for a key fob or pulling on the handle when your hands are full. If your family hauler needs skew more toward people, rather than large cargo items, the 2011 Nissan Quest is worth a look.
Note: The 2011 Nissan Quest's Family Friendliness number is preliminary pending final crash test scores. If it equals the previous-generation Quest, it will score approximately 9.1.
