What's Not: Some features not available, such as active cruise and pushbutton ignition.
Family Friendly Options: DVD entertainment system, backup camera with three views, navigation system, Bluetooth, USB input
How It Got Its Score: The Odyssey scores extremely well thanks to its very good crash test scores, high fuel economy for the class, eight passenger capacity and five LATCH points.
The 2011 Honda Odyssey is all new, improving on the previous-generation's strengths while adding a few new features. The Touring and new Touring Elite are the top-line models, and are distinguished from the rest of the Odyssey line by virtue of their six-speed automatic transmissions, as well as more comprehensive equipment list. Leather, parking sensors, an acoustic windshield (for quieter highway speeds), navigation, a three-angle rear view camera, and a rear DVD system are all standard; the Elite adds a widescreen DVD system, blind spot detection and a high-end audio system with surround sound.
Like all Odysseys but the base LX model, the Touring and Touring Elite come standard with the 2011 Honda Odyssey's new Wide Mode second row seating. This allows owners to spread the three center positions apart slightly, allowing enough room for three large booster seats. For families with small children, especially families with multiples. It's extremely clever, and when combined with the eight-passenger capacity and five usable LATCH points, it gives the new Odyssey a significant passenger carrying edge over its competition.
