2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Sedan LS

Family Friendliness: 6.6

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications also apply to 1LT and 2LT models.

What it Is: A compact, four-door sedan.
Who it's For: Families on a tight budget who need no more than two LATCH positions.
What's Hot: Big trunk, low price.
What's Not: Stability control not available.
Family Friendly Options: USB port, Bluetooth.
How It Got Its Score: The Chevy Cobalt offers up a very big trunk, but this dated compact sedan lacks many modern features, such as stability control, and NHTSA crash test scores trail the competition.

The best news about the 2010 Chevy Cobalt is that it's about to be replaced, so Chevy dealers are anxious to move their inventory. This means that there are incentives on the hood of the little Chevy compact, making its price even lower than listed here. However, this compact has been around since 2005, and the competition has simply passed it by. Stability control isn't even available, and anti-lock brakes are an option. With the automatic shown here, fuel economy suffers as well. The trunk is surprisingly roomy though, and like we said, it's cheap. If you absolutely need cheap wheels right away, then you can get a good deal on one now. However, you might want to wait for the vastly superior 2011 Chevy Cruze, which goes on sale late this year.
