2010 Chevrolet Suburban LS Three-Quarter-Ton Four-Wheel Drive

Family Friendliness: 8.3

Recommended: Not Yet Driven

Specifications also apply to LT models.

What it Is: A full-size long-wheelbase, four-wheel drive heavy-duty body-on-frame SUV.
Who it's For: Those who need maximum passenger and cargo hauling, off-road ability, and heavy-duty towing.
What's Hot: Huge cargo area, lots of passenger space.
What's Not: Fuel economy is a mystery, pricey.
Family Friendly Options: Navigation, Bluetooth, USB, rear-seat entertainment system.
How It Got Its Score: The four-wheel drive Suburban three-quarter ton is a heavy duty workhorse with lots of cargo and passenger space. But its expensive, and fuel economy numbers aren't likely to be good.

If your family likes to go camping and collect rocks you find to take home, and hauls a heavy trailer while doing it, then this might just be your dream vehicle. The 2010 Chevy Suburban three-quarter ton SUV offers four-wheel drive for rough trails, and a ton of cargo hauling for whatever you excavate out of the wilderness. It can also tow 9,300 pounds, plenty for a good sized boat or camper. Inside, you can carry some civilization with you out into the wild, with navigation, Bluetooth and a rear-seat entertainment system all on the options list. However, keep in mind that this is a big, heavy truck. Heavy enough to qualify as a medium-duty vehicle, which means that Chevrolet doesn't have EPA fuel economy numbers to report. However, the GMC Yukon XL three-quarter ton is essentially the same vehicle, and GM does have internal fuel economy numbers on it: 12 mpg city and 17 mpg highway, translating to about 14 mpg combined.
