How It Got Its Score: Under the 2010 Chevrolet HHR's retro styling is a useful small wagon, with good cargo space and decent fuel economy at a good price. The bigger engine adds power, but fuel economy drops.
The 2010 Chevy HHR's styling is meant to evoke the family wagons of years gone by. Some dig the retro look, but others aren't quite so fond of it. However, it shouldn't stand in the way of considering this small wagon. Based on the Chevy Cobalt compact sedan, the HHR offers up excellent cargo room at a low price. The 1LT -- a mid-level model -- can be ordered with a bigger 2.4-liter engine as a $650 option. It adds power, but without a fuel economy penalty, a rare combination, and something to consider if you tend to drive on hilly roads or other engine-taxing areas. It's also available with a DVD entertainment system with screens built into the front headrests, Bluetooth cell phone integration, and an upgraded audio system with a USB port.
